007 COUNTY OF ELGIN 7 By-Law No THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED POUNDS TO_~EFRAY .~~RAISE THE COUNTY GENERA~ EXPENS~S OF THE PROVISIONAL COUNCIL OF THE " °E_ELGIl1· Passed the 23rd of July 1852 WHEREAS it is expedient and necessary to raise the sum of Two Hundred Pounds - È 200 - being the estimated amount required to remunerate the Provisional Officers and defray the general expenses of the said Provisional Council for the current year. BE IT TrÅ’REFORE enacted by the Provisional Council of the County of Elgin assembled by virtue of and under the Authority of the Upper Canada Municipal Corporations and Territorial Divisions Act, and it is hereby enacted under the authority of the same, that the said sum of Two Hundred Pounds be raised in the County of Elgin, and that the following portions of the said sum shall be raised, levied and collected in the following Municipalities in the County of Elgin respectively for the above mentioned purposes namely - È 48 37 37 .31 12 12 12 ----11 È200 In the Municipality of Yarmouth " " Southwold " " Bayham " " Malahide " " Aldboro " " South Dorchester " " Dunwich " " St. Thomas IT IS FURTHER enacted that the said sum shall be assessed, raised, levied and collected in the respective Municipalities above mentioned over and above the lawful expenses of levying and collecting the same, by the same Municipal Officers and in the same manner as the monies directed to be assessed, levied and collected by the Munici- pal Council of the United Counties of Middlesex and Elgin, and shall be paid over by the proper Municipal or other Officer to the Provisional Treasurer of the County of Elgin in like manner as other monies are payable over to the Treasurer of the United Counties of Middlesex and Elgin, under the require- ments and provisions of the 14th Section of the Act 12th Victoria Chapter 78 entitled, "An Act for abolishing the Cont'd) ( 7 By-Law No Page 2 Territorial Divisions of Upper Canada into Districts, and for providing for temporary Unions of Counties for Judi- cial and other purposes, and for the future dissolution of such Unions, as the increase of wealth and population may require." IT IS FURTHER enacted that the said sum of 200 pound to be raised as aforesaid shall be independent of and in addition to all special rates directed or to be di~ rected to be raised by the said Provisional Council, as well as, in addition to all monies directed to be raised by the Municipal Council of the United Counties of Middle- sex and Elgin. IT IS FURTHER enacted that it shall be the duty of the several Clerks of the respective Municipalities a- bove mentioned, and they are hereby authorized and required to impose assessments respectively to raise the sums as above mentioned by placing the same on the proper Collectors Roll for this current year.
