"TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE SUPPORT OF COMMON SCHOOLS
EQUIVALENT TO THE GOVERNMENT GRANT."
Passed 10th June 1854.
1¡IIHEREAS IT IS necessary to provide for the sup-
port of Common Schools -
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Coun-
cil of the County of Elgin under and by authority of the
Upper Canada Municipal Corporations Act that the follow-
ing sums be and are hereby levied on the several Munici-
palities being equivalent to the Government Grant in
pursuance to the Statute.

AND BE IT enacted that the above several amounts
shall be assessed, levied and collected over and above all
expenses whatever from all the rateable property in the
several Municipalities by the Township Collectors and paid
over to the several Township Treasurers on or before the
fourteenth day of December in the present year 1854.
