040 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 40 TO PROVIDE FOR THE PAYMENT OF TOWN REEVES AND DEPUTY REEVES ATTENDING THE COUNTY COUNCIL AND TO REPEAL BY-LAW NUMBER TWENTY-TWO HERETOFORE PASSED IN THAT BEHALF." Passed 27th February 1856. WrĊ’REAS it is expedient to provide for a suit- able remuneration to the Town Reeves and Deputy Town Reeves for their attendance at the sessions of the County Council and to repeal By-Law number Twenty-two heretofore passed in that behalf. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the County of Elgin- That it shall be lawful for the Treasurer of the County of Elgin out of the County funds to pay each Town Reeve and Deputy Town Reeve the sum of Twelve shillings and sixpence for each days attendance during the sessions of this Council and also the sum of sixpence per mile travelled in coming to attend and returning from meetings of the County Council upon certificate of the Warden. AND IT IS FURTHER enacted that this By-Law shall take effect two whole years from the passing thereof and that By-Law number Twenty-two be and is hereby repealed.
