044 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 44 TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF SALARIES AND WAGES AND CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT OF THE MUNICIPAL OFFICERS OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN AND TO REPEAL BY-LAW NUMBER TWENTY-THREE HERETOFORE PASSED IN REFERENCE TO THE SAME." Passed 6th June 1856. BE IT ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the County of Elgin by and under authority of the Municipal Corporations Acts for Upper Canada and by virtue of the same - That William McKay be Clerk of this Council and shall receive as a salary the sum of One hundred and Fifty pounds per annum. That Henry Black be Treasurer of this County and shall receive a salary of One hundred pounds in lieu of all fees. That George T. Claris and J. H. L. Begg be Audi- tors and receive the sum of Ten shillings per day. That Richard Willis be Messenger and receive the sum of Ten shillings per day. That Charles Fraser be County Engineer and re- ceive Fifteen shillings per day. That John C. Morgan be Superintendent of County Roads and receive Fifteen shillings per day while employed for the County.
