048 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 48 .:TO _RAISE_ BY ASSESSMENT IN THE SEVERAL TOWNSHIPS IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN A SUM EQUIVALENT TO THE GOVERNMENT GRANT IN AID OF COMMON SCHOOLS IN SAID TOWNSHIPS." Passed 19th June 1857. WHEREAS it is expedient and necessary to assess the several Townships in the County of Elgin in a sum equi- valent to the Government Grant in support of Common Schools in said County. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the County of Elgin by virtue of the Municipal Corpora- tions Acts and in conformity with the school act and its amendments and it is hereby enacted by authority of the same - That the following sums be assessed on the res- pective Townships as follows that is to say in the Township of Aldborough the sum of È 38 " " Bayham 123 5 " South Dorchester 40 15 " Dunwich 68 " " Malahide ll5 8 " Southwold 163 7 " Yarmouth 156 5 " 'È 705 " " AND BE IT FURTHER enacted that the said sums amounting in all to the sum of È 705 shall be levied and collected over and above all charges whatsoever from all the rateable property in the several Townships hereunto enumerated for the support of Common Schools in the said Townships being equivalent to the Legislative Grant.
