TO RAISE BY ASSESSMENT THE
COUNTY OF ELGIN FOR THE YEAR ONE THOUSAND EIGHT
HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN
PURPOSES IN THE
"
Passed 19th June 1857
WHEREAS IT IS necessary to provide by a general
assessment upon the rateable property in the County of
Elgin for the payment of the general expenses of the County.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council
of the County of Elgin -
That there shall be raised, levied and collected
from all the rateable property of the County of Elgin the
sum of Three thousand Nine hundred and Fourty-five pounds
for the general expenses of said County for the current year
and that the same be apportioned and charged against the
several Municipalities in said County as contained in sche-
dule attached to this By-Law.
AND IT IS FURTHER enacted that the several amounts
mentioned shall be assessed, levied and collected from all
the rateable property in the several Municipalities within
the County of Elgin and the full amount without any deduc-
tion whatsoever paid over to the County Treasurer.
Schedule referred to and forming part of this
By-Law shewing the amounts to be collected in each Munici-
pality and paid over to the County Treasurer for the general
expenses of the County of Elgin exclusive of Lunatic rate
or other special rates.
