COUNTY OF ELGIN
By-Law No. 52
TO APPOINT GRAMMAR SCHOOL TRUSTEES, LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS
OF COMMON SCHOOLS AND SUB-TREASURERS OF SCHOOL MONIES IN
THE COUNTY OF ELGIN AND TO PROVIDE CERTAIN àID FOR THE SUP-
PORT OF THE COUNTY GRAMMAR SCHOOLS."
Passed 28 January 1858.
WHEREAS it is necessary to appoint Grammar School
Trustees, Local Superintendents of Common Schools and Sub
Treasurers of school monies in the County of Elgin and to
provide certain aid for the support of the County Grammar
Schools -
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council
of the County of Elgin -
That the Reverend D. W. Rowland and the Reverend
Thomas Facer be Trustees of the St. Thomas County Grammar
School with term of office for four years.
BE IT ALSO enacted that Simon Newcomb and John P.
McDonald be Trustees of the Vienna County Grammar School
with term of office for four years.
AND BE IT ALSO enacted that Duncan McNeish and
George Robb be reappointed Trustees of the Fingal Grammar
School with term of office for four years.
BE IT ENACTED that the Reverend Edmund Sheppard
be appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools in the
Township of South Dorchester and that portion of the Town-
ship of Malahide North of the Talbot Road ~or the ensuing
year with a salary of Sixty Dollars.
BE IT ALSO enacted that Archibald McLachlan be
Local Superintendent of Common Schools in the West Riding
of the County of Elgin for the ensuing with a salary of
Two hundred and forty dollars.
AND BE IT ALSO enacted that John McLean be ap-
pointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools in the
Townships of Bayham, Yarmouth and that portion of the
Township of Malahide South of the Talbot Road for the en-
suing year with a salary of Two hundred and Forty dollars

BE IT ALSO enacted that the Treasurer of the
several Municipalities be Sub Treasurers of School monies
AND IT IS FURTHER enacted that the sum of Four
hundred dollars be appropriated out of the general funds
of the County for the support of the St. Thomas County
Grammar School for the present year.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the sum of One hun-
dred dollars be appropriated out of the general funds of
the County for the support of the Vienna Grammar School
for the present year.
