063 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 63 TO APPOINT LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS OF COMMON SCHOOLS AND GRA~®ffiR SCHOOL TRUSTEES IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN, TO PROVIDE FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE COUNTY GRAMMAR SCHOOLS AND TO DE- TERMINE THE SALARIES OF LOCAL SUPERINTENDENT8.." Passed 28 January 1859. WHEREAS it is necessary and expedient to ap- point Local Superintendents of Common Schools and Gram- mar School Trustees in the County of Elgin, to provide support to said Grammar Schools and fix the salaries of Local Superintendents. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Coun- cil of the Corporation of the County of Elgin assembled by virtue of the Municipal Institutions Act of Upper Canada of 1858 and it is hereby enacted by authority of the Upper Canada School Acts: - That the Reverend Edmund Sheppard be and·is here- by appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools in the Townships comprised in the east riding of the County of Elgin for the ensuing year with a salary of Two hundred and eighty dollars. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that Archibald McLachlin be and is hereby appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools in the Townships comprised within the west riding of the County of Elgin with a salary of Two hundred and Twenty dollars for the ensuing year. AND IT IS FURTHER enacted by the authority afore- said that George Southwick and the Reverend St. George Caulfield be Trustees of the St. Thomas County Grammar School for the term of four years. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that Henry A. Gustin and Robert McCally be and are hereby appointed Trustees of the Vienna County Grammar School for the term of four years AND BE IT enacted that Chancey Lewis and Phineas Barber be appointed Trustees of the Fingal Grammar School for the term of four years (Cont'd) -' - By--Law No. 63 Page 2 AND IT IS FURTHER enacted that the sum of Three hundred dollars be granted for the support of the St. Thomas County Grammar School and the sum of One Hun- dred dollars to the Vienna Grammar School in this County for the present year. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the sum of One hundred dollars be appropriated for the incidental ex- penses of the Western Division of the Board of Public Instruction and the sum of Sixty dollars for incidental expenses of the Eastern Division of the Board of Public Instruction of the County of Elgin for the current year William McKay Levi Fowler County Clerk Warden Read a first time 28 January 1859.
