"
WHEREAS it is expedient to raise the sum of
two thousand dollars to be applied for the purposes in
the said Statute set forth.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted under the authority
of the said Statute that the said sum be forthwith
raised for such purposes and that the Warden do cause
Debentures of the County of Elgin to be issued for the
sum of two thousand dollars. Which Debentures shall be
payable within ten years at furthest, from the date
hereof, and shall bear interest at the rate of six per
cent per annum payable half yearly on the thirtieth day
of June and thirty-first day of December in each year.
Principal and interest to be payable at the office of
the Bank of Upper Canada in Toronto
AND WHEREAS the sum of five hundred and twenty
dollars will require to be raised annually for paying the
said debt and interest at the time and in the manner afore-
said.
AND WHEREAS the amount of the whole rateable
property in the said County according to the last re-
vised assessment rolls amounts to five million three
hundred and seventy-eight thousand, five hundred and
eighty-eight dollars.
BE IT THEREFORE further enacted that the sum
of the one hundred and third part of one cent in the
dollar on the said gross rateable value of property be
levied and collected in each year over and beyond all
other rates general and special for the purpose of
paying the interest on and creating a sinking fund to
pay the said sum of two thousand dollars raised under
the authority of this By-Law and the Statute aforesaid
