IMPROVEMENT OF
TO APPROPRIATE CERTAIN AMOUNTS FOR THE
THE BRIDGES ACROSS THE RIVER THAMES AND THE COUNTY LINE

Passed 16th November 1859
WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the im-
provement of the Bridges across the River Thames between
the Counties of Middlesex and Elgin and also to appoint
overseers for certain portions of the Town lines in said
County of Elgin and to improve the County line between
Bayham and Houghton.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Coun-
cil of the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue
of the Municipal Institutions Act of Upper Canada -
That the sum of one hundred dollars be appro-
priated towards the improvement of the Wardsville Bridge
across the River Thames and that the Reeve of Aldborough
be and is hereby authorized to expend said grant
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the sum of two hun-
dred dollars be appropriated towards the erection of the
McIntosh Bridge across the said River Thames at or near
the line between the Townships of Dunwich and Southwold
and that Daniel Decow be and is hereby appointed to ex-
pend said grant, and also that the County Treasurer of
the County of Elgin is hereby required to pay said sums
on the certificate of Daniel Decow and the Reeve of Ald-
borough that the same had been duly expended.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that in accordance with
the 315 Section of 22nd Victoria Chapter 99 this By-Law
shall have no force until a By-Law in similar terms has
been passed by the other Councils having jurisdiction in
the premises
AND BE IT enacted that James Phillpot be over-
seer of the gravel pits on the townline between Dunwich
and Southwold from the Village of Iona to the River
Thames

AND ALSO THAT Angus McIntosh be overseer of
the gravel pit on the town line between Southwold and
Yarmouth adjoining Mr. McCabes farm.
AND BE IT enacted that the sum of one hundred
dollars be appropriated towards the improvement of the
County line between the Townships of Bayham and Houghton
and that the Reeve of Bayham be appointed to expend the
same.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that James Philpot
be appointed Inspector of the McIntosh Bridge and that
Donald Johnson be overseer of the Wardsville Bridge in
so far as the jurisdiction of the County of Elgin ex-
tends therein.
