"TO APPOINT LOCAL_SUPERINTENDENTS OF COMMON SCHOOLâ...AND
TO PROVIDE
IN THE COUNTLOF ELGIN
GRAMMAR-êCHOOL TRUSTEES
FOR~HE SUPPORT OF COUNTY GRAMMAR SCHOOLS AND FIX æHE
SALARIES OF LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS'
Passed 24th January 1861
WHEREAS IT IS TIeccessary and expedient to appoint
Local Superintendents of Common Schools, Grammar School
Trustees and provide for the Support of Grammar Schools in
the County of Elgin for the Current Year.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Council of the
Corporation of the County of Elgin in Council assembledaand
under the authority of the 53rd Section of the Upper Canada
School Act, Chapter fifty-four of the Consolidated Statutes
for Upper Canada ånd by virtue thereof. That John S. McColl
be and is hereby appointed Local Superintendent of Common
Schools in the Townships comprised in the West Riding of the
County of Elgin namely Aldborough, Dunwich, and Southwold
for the ensuing year with a salary of two hundred and twenty
dollars per annum.
AND BE IT ALSO enacted under the authority afore-
said, that John D. Hutton be and is hereby appointed Local
Superintendent of Common Schools in the Townships comprised
in the East Riding of the County of Elgin, namely Yarmouth,
South Dorchester, Malahide and Bayham for the Current Year
with a salary of three hundred dó11ars per annum.
AND BE IT enacted under authority of the 23rd
Section of the Act 22nd Victoria, Chapter 63rd of the Con-
solidated Statutes for Upper Canada and by virtue thereof.
That the Reverend W. McCullough and the Reverend John McMillan
be appointed Trustees of the St. Thomas County Grammar
School for four years and the Reverend Edmund Sheppard be
appointed a Trustee of said Grammar School in place of John
McLean who has resigned.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that J. M. Crawford and
James Raymond be appointed Trustees of the Vienna County
Grammar School for the term of four years.

AND BE IT enacted under authority of the sixteenth
Section of the Act 22nd Victoria, Chapter 63rd of the Con-
solidated Statutes for Upper Canada and by virtue thereof.
That the sum of three hundred dollars be appropriated towards
the salary of the Teacher of the St. Thomas County Grammar
School for the present year, and the sum of fifty dollars
towards the repair of said School
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the sum of one hundred
dollars be granted towards the salary of the Teacher of the
Vienna County Grammar School for the current year.
AND BE IT enacted under authority of the 97th
Section of the Act 22nd Victoria, Chapter 64 of the Con-
solidated Statutes for Upper Canada and by virtue thereof.
That the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars be appropriated
towards the incidental expenses of meetings and proceedings
of the Western Division of Board of Public Instruction of
the County of Elgin for the present year and the sum of fifty-
eight dollars and eighty-one cents on account of balance of
expenses of said Board for the previous year.
AND IT IS also enacted that the sum of sixty
dollars be appropriated towards the incidental expenses of
meetings and proceedings of the Eastern Division of Board
of Public Instruction of said County for the ensuing year
