"TO UTHORISE THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN
TO LEVY UPON THE SEVERAL TOWNSHIPS IN THE COUNTY THE SUM
OF THREE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THE PAYMENT OF
THE SALARIES 'OF LEGALLY QUALIFIED COMMON' SCHOOL TEACHERS
FOR THE YEAR ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTYTWO."
Passed 6th June 1862.
WHEREAS it is expendient to raise the sum of Three
Thousand' Four Hundred Dollars during the present year in
the several Townships comprisèd within the County óf Elgin
for the payment of the Salaries of legally qualified Common
School Teachers in the said dounty of Elgin being a sum
equal clear of all charges of collection to the amount of
schooi money apportioned by the Chief Superintendent to the
'said C0"1nty for the Year 1862.
BE IT THEREFORE enact¡¡¡d by the Council of the
Corporation of the County of Elgin by vi~tue and under
authority of the Fiftieth section of the Act,22nd'Victoria
chapter 64 of the Consolidated Statutes of Up~er Canada. '
being an Act respecting Common Schools in Upper Canada.
THAT the said sum of Three Thousand Four Hundred
Dollars be levied on the rateable property in the several
Townships in the County of Elgin during the year 1862 for
the purpose of paying the salaries of the legally qualifiedc
Common School Teachers in said County and that a rate of
three fourths of one Mill in the Dollar be levied on the
rateable property in said Townships to raise tpe said sum
of Three Thousand Four Hundred dollars.
AND IT IS ALSO enac'ted that the said amount shall
be levied and raised in the several Townships comprised in
the said County of Elgin as contained in the following
schedule free and clear of all charges of collection and
the full amount paid over to the County Treasurer without
any deductions whatsoever as required by Law.
