TO AUTHORIZE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN TO
LEVY UPON THE SEVERAL TOWNSHIPS OF THE COUNTY THE SUM OF THREE
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-EIGHT DOLLARS FOR THE PAYMENT
OF THE SALARIES OF LEGALLY QUALIFIED COMMON SCHOOL TEACHERS
OF SAID COUNTY FOR THE YEAR ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND S!XTY-
FOUR."
Passed 23rd June 1864.
WHEREAS it is expedient to raise the sum of' Three
Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-Eight Dollars in the several
Townships of the County of' Elgin during the Year One Thousand
Eight Hundred and Sixty-four for the payment of' the salaries
of legally qualified Common School Teachers in the Townships
of said County of Elgin, being a sum at least equal (clear of'
all charges of collection) the amount of school money apport-
ioned by the Chief Superintendent of' Education to the several
Townships thereof for the current year.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council
of the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue and under
authority of the Fiftieth Section of' the Act Twenty-second
Victoria, Chapter Sixty-four of the Consolidated Statutes for
Upper Canada.
THAT the sum of' Three Thousand Five Hundred and
Thirty-eight Dollars be levied on the rateable property of the
several Townships in the County of Elgin in the year One Thous-
and Eight Hundred and Sixty-f'our f'or the payment of' the salar-
ies of legally qualified Teachers in said County as contained
in the following Schedule free and clear of all charges of'
collections and paid into the hands of the County Treasurer on
or before the Fourteenth day of December next, as by Law re-
quired and that a rate of Eight Tenths of a Mill in the Dollar
be levied on said rateable property in said Townships to raise
the said sum of Three Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-eight
Dollars.
AND IT IS HEREBY enacted that this By-Law shall be
in force and take effect from and after the date of the pass-
ing thereof'.
