131 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No 131 THORIZE THE~!lNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE_CO!lNTY OF _ELGIN TO T. .. ERECTION FOR THE FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF THE TOWNSHIP THAMES AT OR NEAR OF A BRIDGE ACROSS THE RIVER LINE BETWEEN THE TOWNSHIPS OF DUNWICH AND SOUTHWOLD AND ON " THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE COUNTIES OF ELGIN AND MIDDLESEX Passed 23rd June 1865 WHEREAS the Bridge across the River Thames at or near the'. .Township line between the Townships of Dunwich and Southwold known as the Macintosh Bridge having become impass- able. AND WHEREAS said Bridge being of great convenience to the public, it is deemed expedient to comply with the petit- ion of the Inhabitants of Dunwich and Southwold submitted to this Council respecting said Bridge and provide for the erect- ion of a new one in place thereof. AND WHEREAS by the 327 Section of the Act 22nd Vict- oria, Chapter 54 of the Consolidated Statutes for Upper Canada it is recited that in case a Road or bridge lies wholly or partly between a County and an adjoining County, the Councils of the Municipalities between which the road or bridge lies shall havejjoint jurisdiction over the same. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue and under the aurthority aforesaid. THAT the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars be appropri- ated towards the erection of a Bridge across the River Thames at or near the Township line between the Townships of Dunwich and Southwold. AND IT IS enacted that said Bridge shall be located and erected jointly by the Counties of Elgin and Middlesex and that said amount be paid by the County Treasurer on the certificate of T. W. Dobbie a Commissioner hereby appointed by this Council to expend the same certifying that the amount or soccmuch thereof has been duly e~pended and the work performed. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that this By-Law shall have no force until a By-Law has been passed in similar terms or as nearly as may be, appropriating a like amount by the Council of the County of Middlesex.
