137 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 137 "TO APPOINT TRUSTEES FOR THE GRAMMAR SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN AND PROVIDE TOWARDS THE SUPPORT OF SAID SCHOOLS." Passed 25th January 1866. WHEREAS it is expedient and necessary to appoint Trustees for the Grammar Schools in the County of Elgin and to provide towards the support of said Schools for the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-six. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue and under authority of the Act 29th Victoria, Chapter twenty-three enti- tled " An Act tor the further improvement of Grammar Schools in Upper Canada. THAT Dr. George Southwick be and is hereby appointed Trustee of the St. Thomas County Grammar School with term of office for one year. THAT the Rev. N. W. Clark be and is hereby appointed Trustee of the St. Thomas County Grammar School with term of office for two years. AND THAT A. Young be appointed a Trustee for said School with term of office for three years. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that H. B. Jessupp be and is hereby appointed Trustee of the Vienna Grammar School with term of office for one year. THAT L. J. Grundry be appointed Trustee of the Vienna County Grammar School with term of office for two years. AND THAT Simon Newcombe be hereby appointed a Trustee of the Vienna County Grammar School with term of office for three years. AND IT IS HEREBY enacted by virtue of the authority afoI'esaid that the sum of four hundred dollars be appropriated towards the payment of the salary of the Teacher of the· ,St. Thomas County Grammar School annually for the years 1866 and 1867. AND THAT the sum of two hundred dollars be appropri- ated toward the support of the Teacher of Vienna County Grammar School for the present year. Passed in Council 25th day of January 1866.
