140 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 140 "TO APPOINT A LOCAL SUPERINTENDENT OF COMMON SCHOOLS FOR THE TOWNSHIPS IN THE WEST RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN FOR THE YEAR ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX AND TO AMEND BY-LAW NO. 133". Passed in Council 20th April 1866 WHEREAS it is deemed expedient and necessary to appoint a Local Superintendent of Common Schools for the Townships embraced in the West Riding of the County of Elgin for the year 1866 in place of the late John S. McColl - Deceased - and to amend By-Law Number 1JJ in so far as re- lates to the appointment of Superintendent for said West Riding. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the County Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin under authority and by virtue of the fifty-third Section of the Upper Canada School Act Chapter sixty-£our of the Consolidated Statutes for Upper Canada - That the Reverend Edmund Sheppard be and is here- by appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools for the Townships of Aldborough, Dunwich and Southwold embraced in the West Riding of the County of Elgin for the current year at a salary of two hundred and twenty dollars per annum and that By-Law Number 133 be amended accordingly. AND IT IS ALSO èhaêtèd that the sum of fifteen dollars, the Local Superintendent of the Township in the West Riding of the County for postage and stationery. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that this By-Law shall take effect and be in force from and after the 20th day of April, 1866.
