148 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 148 "TO APPOINT LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS OF COMMON SCHOOLS FOR THE TOWNSHIPS IN THE EAST AND WEST RIDINGS OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE CURRENT YEAR AND TO REPEAL ~:I::.~~I!ê..ßUMBEIi ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE AND ONE HUNDRED AND FORT¥ HERETOFORE PASSED IN THAT BEHALF". WHEREAS it is deemed expedient and necessary to appoint Local Superintendents of Common Schools for the Townships in the East and West Ridings of the County of Elgin for the remainder of the year 1866 and till the first day of April 18$7 in place of the Reverend E. Sheppard resigned. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the County Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin under authority and by virtue of the fifty-third section of the Upper Canada School Act Chapter sixty-four of the Consolidated Statutes for Upper Canada - That Samuel McColl be and is hereby appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools in the Townships of Aldborough, Dunwich and Southwold in the West Riding of the County of Elgin for the remainder of the year 1866 and till April in the year 1867 at a salary of two hundred and twenty dollars per annum and an allowance of fifteen dollars for postage and stationery per annum. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that A. F. Butler be and is hereby appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools for the Townships of Yarmouth, Malahide, South Dorchester and Bayham in the East Riding of the County of Elgin for the remainder of the year 1866 and till April in 18$7 with a salary at the rate of three hundred dollars per annum and an allowance for postage and station€ry at the rate of twenty-five dollars per annum. AND IT IS enacted that By-Laws number 133 and 140 of this Council are hereby repealed. AND IT IS enacted that this By-Law shall be in force and take effect from and after the date of the passing hereof.
