150 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 150 "TO REMUNERATE MEMBERS OF COUNCIL FOR THEIR ATTENDANCE IN COUNCIL" . Passed 22nd January 1867. WHEREAS it is expedient to determine the amount to be paid to the Members of the Council for their atten- dance therein and fix the rate for mileage. WHEREAS by the two hundred and seventy-first section of the Municipal Institutions Act 29 - 30 Victoria Chapter fifty-one it is enacted - That "The Council of every Township and County may pass By-Laws for paying the Members of the Council for their attendance in Council at a rate not exceeding two dollars per diem. and five cents per mile necessarily travelled to and from such attendance." BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue of the two hundred and seventy-first section of the Act 29 - 30 Victoria Chapter 51 - That the sum of two dollars per day be paid to the Members of Council for their attendance in Council and five cents per mile necessarily travelled to and from such attendance. AND IT IS enacted that By-Law number heretofore passed in that behalf be and is hereby repealed and that this By-Law shall take effect from and after the Twenty-second day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.
