163 COUNTY OF ELGIN 163 By-Law No TO MAKE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE BOUNDARY " ADJOINING COUNTIES Passed in Council 20th June 1867 LINES BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN AND THE WHEREAS in the 329th Section of the Act 29. 30 Victoria Chapter 51 it is recited that in case a road or bridge lies wholly or partly between a county, town, city, township or incorporat~~c'village, the Council of the Munici- palities between which the road or bridge lies shall have joint jurisdiction over the same although the road or bridge may so deviate as in some places to be wholly or in part within one or either of them and WHEREAS it is expedient to appropriate certain amounts for the improvement of the boundary lines between the County of Elgin and the adjoining Counties. of the BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation County of Elgin by virtue of the authority aforesaid THAT the sum of Three Hundred Dollars be granted for the improvement of the County line bètween the Counties of Elgin and Norfolk lying between the Townships of Bayham and Middleton and that Benjamin Stillwell of the Township of Bayham be a Commissioner to expend aaid amount. THAT the sµm of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars be appropriated for the improvement of the County line between the Townships of Aldborough and Orford provided the County of Kent grant a like amount for the same purpose and that Richard Cotes of the Township of Aldborough be a Commissioner to expend said amount. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the sum of Fifty Dollars be granted for the improvement of the County line between the Counties of Elgin and Middlesex lying between the Townships of Delaware and Southwold and that Duncan Gordon of the Township of Southwold be a Commissioner to expend said amount. AND that the sum of ~hirty Dollars be granted to im- prove that part of the County line between the Townships of Westminster and Yarmouth and that Gilbert Taylor of the Town- ship of Yarmouth be a Commissioner to expend said amount , AND IT IS enacted by virtue of the 330th Section of said Act, that this By-Law shall not have any force until By-Laws have been passed in similar term or as nearly as may be by the other Councils having joint jurisdiction in the pre- mises. (cont'd) By-Law No. 163 Page 2 AND IT IS enacted that the Treasurer of the County of Elgin shall pay said amounts (subject to the foregoing proviso) on certificate of the said Commissioners certifying that the amount has been duly expended and the work performed.
