167 COUNTY OF ELGIN 167 By-Law No TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN TO CAUSE TO BE LEVIED UPON THE SEVERAL TOWNSHIPS OF THE COUNTY THE SUM THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE OF THREE UALIFIED COMMON SCHOOL TEACHERS FOR THE SALARIES OF LEGALLY " WHEREAS by the Fiftieth Section of the Act 22nd, Victoria Chapter Sixty-four of the Consolidated Statutes for Upper Canada, it is enacted ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTY-EIGHT YEAR THAT each County Council shall cause to be levied yearly upon the several townships of the 60unty, such sums of money for the payment of the salaries of legally qualified Common School Teachers as at least equal (clear of all charges of collection) the amount of school money apportioned by the Chief Superintendent of Education to the several townships thereof for the year and notified by him to such Council through the County Clerk. AND WHEREAS the Council of the County of Elgin have been notifièd by the Chief Superintendent that the sum of Three Thousand Four Hundred Dollars has been apportioned to the several townships in the County of Elgin for the payment of the salaries of legally qualified Common School Teachers for the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-eight. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue of the authority aforesaid that the sum of Three Thousand Four Hundred Dollars be levied upon the several townships in the County of Elgin during the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-eight for the payment of the salaries of legally qualified Common School Teachers as embraced in the following schedule clear of all charges of collection and paid into the hands of the Treasurer of the County of Elgin on or before the Fourteenth day of December One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-eight, as required by the 51st Section of said recited Act.
