177 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 177 "TO APPOINT LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS OF COMMON SCHOOLS FOR THE TOWNSHIPS IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN FOR THE YEAR ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTY-NINE." WHEREAS it is deemed expedient and necessary to appoint Local Superintendents of Common Schools in the County of Elgin for the year 1899. WHEREAS by the Fifty-third Section of the Upper Canada School Act, Cbapter Sixty-four of the Consolidated Statutes for Upper Canada it is recited that EACH County Council shall appoint annually a Local Superintendent of Schools for the whole County or for anyone or more Townships in the County as it may judge expedient and provide for the salary of such Local Superin- tendent. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin by virtue of the authority aforesaid THAT Samuel Me Cóll be and is hereby appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools for the Townships comprised in the West Riding of the County, of. Elgin,. namèly Aldborough, Dunwich and Southwold for the year 1869 at a salary of Two Hundred and Thirty Dollars per annum and an allowance of Fifteen Dollars for postages and stationery. AND THAT A. F. Butler be and is hereby appointed Local Superintendent of Common Schools for the Townships comprised in the East Riding of said County of Elgin, namely Bayham, Sputh Dorchester, Malahide and Yarmouth for the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-nine at a salary of Three Hundred Dollårs per annum and an allowance of Twenty five Dollars for postages and stationery. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that this By-Law shall be in force and take effect from and after the first day of April A.D. 1869. Passed in Council the Twenty-sixth day of January A.D. 1869. st.
