By-Law No. 200
"TO APPOINT COUNTY AUDITORS FOR THE YEAR 1871."
WHEREAS: by Sections Numbered one hundred and sixty-
nine and one hundred and seventy of the Act 29-30 Victoria,
Chapter fifty-one of the Statutes of Ontario
IT IS enacted that every Council is required at
the first meeting thereof, in every year after being duly
organized to appoint two Auditors who shall examine and re-
port upon all accounts affecting the Corporation or relating
to any matter under its control Or within itsýjurisdiction
for the year ending on the thirty-first day of December, pre-
ceding their appointment.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the
County of Elgin in Council assembled and under the authority
aforesaid
THAT George Scarff, Nominee of the Warden and W.
J. White be and are hereby appointed Auditors of the Corpor-
ation of the County of Elgin to audit all accounts affecting
said Corporation for the year ending the thirty-first day
of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
IT IS ALSO enacted under authority of the 171st
Section of the said Act that the Auditors shall prepare an
abstract of the receipts and expenditures and liabilities
of the Corporation and also a detailed statement of the said
particulars which shall be published in sheets by the Clerk
of the Corporation.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that it shall be the duty
of the Auditors to audit the school accounts, the land tax
receipts and all other acCounts required by law or order-of
said County Council.
AND that the Auditors shall recèive the sum of
thi~ty dollars each for their services during the year 1870.
AND that this By-Law shall take effect from and
after the twenty-seventh day of January A.D. 1871.
