224 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 224 "TO APPOINT A COMMITTEE TO RECEIVE TENDERS AND CONTRACT FOR THE ERECTION OF A REGISTER OFFICE IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN". WHEREAS it is deemed necessary in order to comply with the requirements of the Registry Act to erect a fire- proof Registry Office on a plan and site to be approved of by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor in Council. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin in Council assembled that John Smith, T. M. Nairn and Samuel Day be and are hereby appointed a special Committee to receive tenders and execute contracts or make agreements for the erection of a fireproof Registry Office in the Court House Yard of the County of Elgin. AND THAT THE Warden of the County is hereby re- quired to execute contracts for said works as may be required by said Committee and attach the seal of the County thereto. AND the County Treasurer is hereby required to pay the order of the Chairman of said Committee on certificate of the person in charge of said works certifying the amount of work done or material on hand, retaining fifteen per-cent thereof until the completion and approval of said work. AND IT IS also enacted that this By-Law shall take effect and be in force from and after the seventh day of June one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.
