230 COUNTY OF ELGIN 230 By-Law No. "TO AUTHORIZE THE COLLECTION OF TOLLS ON THE BRIDGES ACROSS THE RIVER THAMES ON THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE COUNTIES OF ELGIN AND MIDDLESEX WHEREAS the County Councils of the Counties of Kent and MIddlesex having passed By-Laws to impose tolls for passage across the bridge across the River Thames near Both- well and at or near the county line between the Counties of Elg~n, Kent and Middlesex, it is deemed expedient to pass a By-Law for a like purpose for raising money to defray the expense of making or repairing the same. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin in County Council assembled and under author- ity of the Municipal Institutions Act, that tolls shall be imposed on the Bothwell Bridge for passing thereon, as follows- Five Cents Three Cents Two Cents Two Cents For every vehicle drawn by two animals For every vehicle drawn by one animal Fore every additional horse, ass or mule For every ox, steer, bull, cow or heifer For every score of less than a score sheep, hogs or other an- imals not enumerated Two Cents AND IT IS ALSO enacted that tolls shall be impos- ed on the McIntosh Bridge and also on the Currie Road or Coyne Road Bridge for passing thereDn to raise money to defray the expense of making or repairing the same, as follows- every vehicle drawn by two or other animals every addi tonal horse or 'other animal every vehicle drawn by one animal every saddle horse, ass or mule every head of cattle every sheep or swine or fraction of Five Cents Two Cents horses For For For For Three Cents Two Cents Two Cents Two Cents per score score ( C ont · d) For For By-Law No. 230 Page 2 AND IT ALSO enacted that all parties exempt by Law shall pass over said bridges free of toll. (as written in margin) AND IT IS ALSO enacted that this By-Law shall take effect from and after the First day of February one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
