252 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No 252 !~L APPOI NT _!U)PECI!1!!SOMMIT!~¡LEQR TH1L~RECTION -ºL!1 !'i~\Ÿ REGISTRLOFFICEJ!:QR_VlE_QQUNTY OF _ELQ!.!'J:' Passed 26th February 1874 WHEREAS it is necessary and expedient to appoint a Special Committee to proceed with the erection of a new Registry Office for the County of Elgin. Municipal Council enacte d by the BE IT THEREFORE of the County of Elgin. That John McCausland, T.M. Nairn and Samuel Day be and are hereby appointed a Special Committee for the erection of a new Registry Office in the Court House yard of the County of Elgin according to the plans and specifications submitted by the Government. AND IT IS enacted that said committee be authorized to receive estimates from the Superintendent or Architect in charge and give orders on the County Treasurer for the amounts as the work progresses, less ten per cent to be retained till the final completion and approval of the works. And the County Treasurer is hereby authorized and required to pay the orders of said committee for said work as before mentioned AND IT IS ALSO enacted that said committee be and are hereby authorized to make any alterations or order any extra work to foundations or otherwise that may be found to be necessary in the progress of the work for the better security or convenience thereof AND IT IS ALSO enacted that said committee be authorized to employ a per~onto superintend the works while in progress and make the working plans and inspect and approve of all materials to be used or excavations to be made in respect to said works (Cont'd) By-Law No 252 Page 2 St. Thomas John McCausland County of Elgin Warden 26 February 1874 William McKay Clerk Read a first time 26 February 1874 Read a second time 26 February 1874 Read a third time 26 February 1874 Certified W.
