279 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 279 "TO APPOINT TRUSTEES AND MAKE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE SUPPORT OF HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN FOR THE YEAR 1876". Passed 27 January 1876 WHEREAS it is enacted by the 52nd Section of the High Schools Act of 1874 that every County Council shall appoint three fit and proper persons to be Trustees of each high school in a town not separated from the County or in an incorporated village. The County Council of the County of Elgin enacts and be it therefore enacted by the authority aforesaid That Dr. John Kingston of Vienna be appointed Trustee of the Vienna High School for the term of three years And that Samuel S. Clutten be appointed Trustee of the Aylmer High School with term of office for three years AND IT IS also enacted under authority of said Act That the following sums be granted to the High Schools in the County as follows for the present year that The Vienna High School and the Aylmer High School be paid the same amounts as last year and to the St. Thomas High School, the sum of five hundred dollars be paid for the present year, provided County þupils are admitted free.
