285 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 285 TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN TO BORROW THE SUM OF TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE LIABILITIES OF THE COUNTY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR". Passed 22nd June 1876. WHEREAS there are certain liabilities which f~ll due during the current year for which the County Treasurer has not funds on hand to liquidate until the County rates are collected. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin under authority of the Municipal Instit- utions Act - That the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars be borrowed from the Merchants Bank in such sums as may be required by the Treasurer of the County of Elgin to pay County liabilities until the County rates are paid into the County Treasury. And that the Warden and Treasurer of the County of Elgin be and are hereby authorized to sign notes or other papers for that purpose and attach the County seal thereto if necessary and that this By-law shall take effect from and after the 22nd day of June A.
