"TO APPOINT TRUSTEES AND MAKE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE SUP-
PORT OF HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN FOR THE YEAR
1878."
Passed 24 January 1878.
WHEREAS it is enacted under the fifty-second
section of the High School Act of 1874 that every County
Council shall appoint three fit and proper persons to be
Trustees of each High School in a Town not separated
from the County for Municipal purposes or an Incorporated
Village.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the County Council
of the County of Elgin under the authority aforesaid -
That William J. Youell be and is hereby ap-
pointed Trustee of the Vienna High School for the term
of three years -
That John Ballah be appointed Trustee of the
Aylmer High School for the term of three years.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted under the authority of
said Act -
That the following sums be granted to the High
Schools in the County for the present year,
To the Vienna High School $600.00 the sum of
To the Aylmer High School $800.00 the sum of
To the St. Thomas High School $1300.00 the sum of
provided that County pupils are admitted to said St. Thomas
High School free of charge for admission to said High School
IT IS ALSO enacted that the sum of
be granted toward the model school on condition that County
pupils are admitted to said School free of charge.
AND IT IS enacted that a grant of one hundred
dollars be paid to Mr. Butler, the County Inspector for
travelling expenses, stationery and postage annually from
this date.
