311 COUNTY OF ELGIN 3ll By-Law No COUNTY OF ELGIN AMOUNTS FOR COUNTY RATES IN THE TO RAISE Passed 7th June 1878 " FOR THE YEAR 1878 WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to raise amounts required for County Rates for the current year. WHEREAS it is recited under the 71st section of Chapter 180 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario that The Council of a County in apportioning a County rate among the different Townships, Towns and Villages with- in the County shall, in order that the same may be assessed equally on the whole rateable property of the County, make the amount of property returned on the Assessment Rolls of such Townships, Towns and Villages as reported by the Valuators as finally revised and equalized for the pre- ceding year the basis upon which the apportionment is made AND WHEREAS an estimate has been made of the sums required for the lawful purposes of the County for the cur- rent year shewing that the sum of forty-two thousand one hundred and fifty-two dollars will be required to be raised for County purposes in the several Municipalities in the County during the present year (1878) exclusive of schools BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin in County Council assèmbled and under the authority aforesaid - That the sum of forty-two thousand one hundred and fifty-two dollars be raised and levied on the several Munici- plaities in the County of Elgin during the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight for the purposes of the Coun- ty and That a rate of two mills and five eighths of a mill be levied on the rateable property in the County to raise said amount as follows - $18095 24055 $42150 (Cont'd) For Railway Bonus General Rate By-Law No. 311 Page 2 BE IT THEREFORE enacted that the sum of forty- two thousand one hundred and fifty dollars be raised and levied in the said several Municipalities in the County of Elgin according to the Schedule hereunto and that the amount as therein be paid over to the Treasurer of the County of Elgin as by Law required. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that that portion of the Assessment of Malahide Township and Township of South Dorchester embraced within the Corporation limits of the new Municipality of the Village of Springfield be deducted from the assessments of these Townships and form the equa- lized valuation of the property in said Village of Spring- field. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the said rates shall be levied and apportioned upon the rateable property in the Municipalities as equalized for the preceding year.
