WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to raise
required for County rates for the cunrent year.
WHEREAS it is recited under the 71st section
of chapter 180 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario that
the Council of a County in apportioning County rates
amøng the different municipalities, townships, towns
and villages within the County shall in order that the
same may be assessed equally on the whole rateable
property of the County ~ake the amount of property
returned on the Assessment Roll of such townships and
villages as reported by the Valuators as finally
revised and equalized for the preceding year the basis
upon which the apportionment is made.
AND WHEREAS an estimate has been made of the
sums reqnired for the lawful purposes of the County
for the current year shewing that the sum of (35,289)
thirty-five thousand, two hundred & eighty-nine dollars
will be required to be raised for County purposes in
the several municipalities in the County during the
present year 1880 exclusive of schools.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of
the County of Elgin in County Council assembled and under
the authority aforesaid
THAT the sum of $35,ç89.00, be raised and
levied in the several municipalities in the County
during the year one thousand, eight hundred and eighty,
for the purposes of the County and that a rate of two
mills and two elevenths of a mill in the dollar be
levied on the rateable property in the County to raise
said amounts as follows:

BE IT ALSO enacted that the said sum of
thirty-five thousand and eighty-nine dollars be raised
and levied in the said several municipalities, in the
County of Elgin according to the schedule hereunto and
that the amounts as therein be paid over to the County
Treasurer as by law required.

AND IT IS ALSÐ enacted that the said rates shall
be levied and apportioned upon the rateable property in
the municipalities as equalized for the preceding year
AND IT IS enacted that the sum of three thousand,
nine hundred and seventy-one dollars apportioned and raised
in the several townships in the County for Common Schools
as notified by the Education Department to be raised
equivalent to the Government Grant as shown in the
schedule annexed hereto:
