349 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 349 TO APPOINT A TREASURER FOR THE COUNTY OF ELGIN AND REPEAL BY-LAW NUMBER 251". Passed in Council 6th July 1881 BE IT enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin in County Council assembled - That John McCausland Esquire be and is hereby ap- pointed Treasurer of the County of Elgin in place of John A. Kains Esquire, resigned. AND IT IS enacted that the salary of the Treasurer be One Thousand Dollars per annum payable half yearly. AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the fees allowed by statute to be charged as commission for selling lands in ar- rears for Taxes be charged against the said lands only. And the salary of the Treasurer be in lieu of fees for making searches as to lands in arrears and percentage for monies received. And that the County monies be deposited in the Molsons Bank. The Interest thereon to belong to the County as already arranged with said Bank. And that it shall be the duty of the Treasurer to submit to the Warden a monthly stat~ment of the Receipts and Disbursements of County monies. AND IT IS enacted that By-law Number Two Hundred and Fifty One be and is hereby repealed. And that this By-law be in force and take effect from and after the date of the passing hereof.
