364 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 364 "TO APPOINT JAMES A. BELL COUNTY ENGINEER OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN". Passed 8 June 1882 WHEREAS it is necessary and expedient to appoint a person to the office of County Engineer in the County of Elgin. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Corporation of the County of Elgin assembled and by virtue of the Municipal Act - That James A. Bell be and is hereby appointed County Engineer of the County of Elgin and that the salary be two hundred dollars per annum and not exceeding fifty dollars for his expenses. And it shall be the duty of such Engineer to at- tend to all County Works as required by statute or order in Council. And it shall be his duty to make all plans, speCif- ications, estimates and superintend all works and improvements and constructions which belong to the County or County build- ings and to be in attendance at the meetings of the Council or their Committees. And it shall be the duty of the Engineer to visit and inspect all County Bridges and Works and report on the same twice in each year and at any other time as the Council may direct. And it shall be the duty of the said Engineer to report on all Works at all meetings of Council that may be in session during the year and also to carry out and attend to any ·.instructions from time to time that may be given him by the Councilor Committees, thereof respecting Roads, Bridges and other Works. And it is enacted that the term of office of James A. Bell shall commence on the twenty fifth day of January 1882 and that the salary shall be paid by the County Treas- urer on thirtieth days of June and December in each year AND IT IS enacted that this By-Law shall be in force from and after the passing thereof.
