"TO RAISE AMOUNTS FOR COUNTY RATES DURING THE YEAR 1882
Passed 8th June 1882.
WHEREAS it is recited under the 71st section of
chapter 180 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario that the
Council of a County in apportioning County Rates among the
different municipalities, townships and villages in the
County shall in order that the same may be assessed eq-
ually on the whole rateable property of the County make
the amount of property returned on the Assessment Roll of
such Municipality as reported finally revised and equalized
for the preceeding year, the basis upon which the apportion-
ment is made.
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to raise amounts
required for county rates for the lawful purposes of the
County during the year 1882.
AND WrillREAS an estimate has been prepared of the
sums required for the lawful purposes of the County during
the present year showing that the sum of thirty-six thousand
and twenty dollars is required to be raised in the several
Municipalities for County purposes during the present year.
AND WrĊREAS the Government has given notice that
the sum of three thousand five hundred and fifty-two dollars
should be raised equivalent to the Government Grant in the
Township Municipalities of the County for Common Schools.
BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Corpor-
ation of the County of Elgin in County Council assembled--
That a rate of two and a quarter mills be levied
on all the rateable property in the County to raise said
amounts as follows:-
Debentures & Coupons $ 15,400.00
General County Purposes 20,623.00
BE IT ALSO enacted that the sum of three thousand
five hundred and fifty-two dollars be raised and levied in
the Township Municipalities in the County being an amount
equivalent to the Government Grant to the Common Schools of
the Townships in the County of Elgin

BE IT ALSO enacted that the said sum of thirty-six
thousand and twenty-three dollars be raised and levied in
the said several Municipalities in the County according to
the schedule hereunto annexed and that the amounts as there-
in be paid over to the County Treasurer as by law required
