411 COUNTY OF ELGIN 411 By-Law No " YEAR 188 Passed 4 June 1885 TO RAISE AMOUNTS FOR COUNTY RATES DURING THE WHEREAS it is recited under the seventy-first Sec- tion of Chapter 180 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario THAT the Council of a.'county in apportioning County R'ates among the different municipalities, townships and vill- ages in the County shall in order that the same may be assessed equally on the whole rateable property of the County make the amount of property returnéd on the Assessment Roll of such Municipality as reported, finally revised and equalized for the preceding year the basis upon which the apportionment is made. AND WHEREAS an estimate that a sum of forty-two thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven dollars is required to be raised in the several municipalities. for the lawful purpose of the oounty during the present year. AND \i1lliEREAS the Government has given notice that the sum of three thousand four hundred and fifty-seven dollars being an amount equìvalent to the Government Grant should be raised in the Township Municipalities of the county for Common Schools. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin in Council assembled 1. That a rate of two and seven tenths mills in the dollar be levied on all the rateable property in the sev- eralmunicipalities of the County of Elgin as equalized for the year of 1884 to raise the following amounts $13,600 29.197 $42.797 For Debenture and Coupons " General County Purposes Total 2 That the sum of three thousand four hundred and fifty seven dollars be raised and levied in the several Town- ship Municipalities in the County being an amount equivalent to the Government Grant to the Common Schools of the Townships in the County of Elgin.
