440 COUNTY OF ELGIN 440 RATES DURING THE YEAR By-Law No . " 188 RAISE AMOUNTS FOR COUNTY 'ro 1887 WHEREAS under the authority of Sections Numbers 359 and 361 of the Consolidated Municipal Act of 1883 and Section 71 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario Passed June 10th The Council of a County in apportioning a county rate among the different townships, towns and vill- ages within the· County shall in order that the same may be assessed equally on the whole rateable property in the County make the amount of property returned on the Assess- ~emt Rolls of such townships, towns and villages or report- ed by the valuators as finally revised and equalized for the preceding year, the basis upon which the apportionment is made. AND WHEREAS the Council of every County or local Municipality shall every year make estimate of all sums which may be required for the lawful purposes of the County or local Municipality for the year in which such sums are re- quired to be levied. AND WHEREAS an estimate has been made showing that the sum of thirty-nine thousand, eight hundred dollars is re- quired to be raised in the several Municipalities for the law- ful purposes of the County during the present year. AND WHEREAS the Gove~ent has given notice that the sum of three thousand, four hundred and eighty-three dollars being an amount equivalent to the Government grant should be raised in the Township Municipalities in the·County for common sbhools.
