TO INCORPORATE THE VILLAGE OF DUTTON IN THE COUNTY OF
Passed 20th June 1890
WHEREAS by the 9th Section of the Municipal Act
Chapter 184 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario, it is
enacted as follows
WHEN the census returns of an unincorporated village
with its immediate neighborhood taken under rohe direction of
the councilor councils of the county or counties in which
the village and its neighborhood are situate, shew that the
same contain over 750 inhabitants and when the residences of
such inhabitants are sufficiently near to form an incorpor-
ated village, then on petition of not less than one hundred
resident freeholders and householders of the village and
neighborhood of whom not fewer than one half shall be free-
holders. the councilor councils of the county or counties
in which the village and neighborhood are situate shall by
law erect the village and neighborhood into an incorporated
village apart from the township or townships in which the
same are situate by a name and with boundaries to be respec-
tively declared in the By-Law, and shall name in the By-Law
the place for holding the first election and the Returning
Officer who is to hold the same.
AND WHEREAS by Section 10 of the said Act it is
enacted
That no town or village incorporated after the pass-
ing of this Act, the population of which does not exceed one
thousand souls, shall extend over or occupy within the limits
of the incorporation an area of more than five hundred acres
of land.
AND WHEREAS the census returns of the Unincorpor~
ated Village of Dutton and its immediate neighborhood in
the Township of Dunwich in the County of Elgin, taken under
the direction of the Council of the County of Elgin, shew
that the same contains eight hundred and fifty-one inhabit-
ants
AND WHEREAS a petition signed by seventy-eight
freeholders and forty-four householders of the said unincor-
porated village and néighborhood has been presented to the
Council of the County of Elgin praying to have the said vill-
age and neighborhood erected into an incorporated village
apart from the Township of Dunwich

AND WHEREAS the said Council deem
grant the prayer of the said petition
The Council of the Municipal Corporation of the
County of Elgin, therefore enacts
That the Unincorporated Village of Dutton and
immediate neighborhood be and are hereby erected into :
incorporated village having all the powers and privile!
of a separate municipality apart from the Township of
Dunwich in which said village is situate and under the name
of the Village of Dutton and with the boundaries and limits
hereinafter declared and set forth.

That the said Village of Dutton hereby incorporated
shall comprise the following lands, and that the boundaries
of the said village as hereinafter defined shall be deter-
mined thereby, namely the south east three quarters of lot
number twelve in Concession "A" in the Township of Dunwich
in the said County of Elgin; the south east three quarters
of lot number thirteen in said Concession "A" and the south
east half of lot number fourteen in said Concession "A" and
the north west three quarters of the north west half of
lots numbers twelve and thirteen in the fifth south of said
Concession "A" which said lands are more particularly de-
scribed as follows.
Commencing at the north west angle of lot number
twelve in the fifth concession, south of said Concession "A
thence south forty-five degrees east along the limit between
lots eleven and twelve in said fifth concession, south of
said Concession "A", twenty-five chains and twelve and one
half links more or less to the limit between the north,west
three quarters and the south east quarter of the north west
half of sàid lot number twelve.
THENCE north forty-five degrees east along said
last mentioned limit and the corresponding limit of said
lot number thirteen, sixty-one chains more or less to the
limit between lots numbers thirteen and fourteen in said
fifth concession south of said Concession "A"
THENCE north forty-five degrees west along said
limit between lots thirteen and fourteen twenty-six chains
and twelve and one half links more or less to the northerly
limit of the road allowance between said Concession "A" and
the fifth concession, south of Concession "A" aforesaid.
THENCE north forty-five degrBes east along said
limit of road allowance thirty chains more or less to the
limit between lots numbers fourteen and fifteen in said Con-

cession "A"; thence north forty-five degrees west along said
limit sixteen chains and seventy-five links more or less to
the limit between the south·,east half and the north¡ ·west half
of the south half of said lot number fourteen in said Concess-
ion "A"
THENCE south forty-five degrees west along said
last mentioned limit, thirty chains more or less to the limit
between lots numbers thirteen and ~ourteen in said Concession
"A"; thence north forty-five degrees west along said limit
between lots thirteen and fourteen, thirty-three chains and
fifty links more or.less to the limit between the south east
three·.·quarters and the north ·west quarter of lot number thir-
teen in said Concession "AI'.
THENCE south¡:forty-fi ve degrees west along the said
last mentioned limit and the corresponding limit of lot number
twelve in said Concession "AI', sixty-one chains more or less
to the limit between lots eleven and twelve in said Concess-
ion "A"; thence south forty-five degrees east along the limit
between lots eleven and twelve in said Concession "A" and
across the road allowance between said Concession "A" and
the fifth concession south of said Concession JtA" fifty-one
chains and twenty-five links more or less to the place of
beginning.
AND IT IS ALSO enacted that the first election of
Reeve and CQuncillors for the said Corporation of the Village
of Dutton shall be held in Leitches Hall in the said Village
of Dutton on the first Monday in January A.D. 1891, being
the first Monday in January next after three months after
the passing of this By-Law.
AND THAT William John Mitton of Dutton shall be
Returning Officer to hold the first election for the said
Municipal Corporation of the Village of Dutton.
AND THAT until the Council for the said Village of
Dutton be organized the Council of the said Township of
Dunwich shall continu~ to have the same powers in the said
village as heretofore and that all other officers of the
said township shall until dismissed or successors are appóiñtêd
continue in their respective offices until such organizat-
ion with the same powers ,.¡duties and liabilities as hereto-
fore
and after
AND THAT this By-Law shall take effect from
the passing thereof.
