580 · · · · · · · · · · · ~.'-,;.- COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 580 TO RAISE AMOUNTS FOR COUNTY RATES DURING THE YEAR 1898." Passed June 9th 1898. WHEREAS by Section 82 of Chapter 193 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario, the Council of a County in apportioning the County Rate shall make the amount of property returned on the Assessment Rolls as finally equalized for the preceding year, the basis upon which the apportionment is made. AND WHEREAS by Section 359 and 360 of Chapter 184 R. S. 0., the Council of a county may pass By-Laws authorizing the levying and collecting of a rate, etc. AND WHEREAS an estimate has been made showing that the sum of thirty thousand five hundred and eighty- two dollars is required to be raised in the several municipalities for the lawful purposes of the County dur- ing the year 1898. THEREFORE the Council of the Municipal Corpora- tion of the County of Elgin enacts 1. That a rate of two mills in the dollar be levied upon all the rateable property in the several municipalities in the County of Elgin as equalized for the year 1897 to raise the fOllowing amounts. 2.
