600 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 600 TO APPOINT COMMISSIONERS TO HAVE THE CARE OF THE COURT HOUSE AND GROUNDS CONNECTED THEREWITH." Passed 16th December 1899 The County Council of the County of Elgin enacts 1. That the Warden, the Sheriff and Clerk of the County Council be and are hereby appointed Commissioners to have the care of the Court House and all offices, rooms and grounds connected therewith. 2. That it shall be the duty of the said Com- missioners - (a) To appoint a Caretaker and engage such as- sistance as may be necessary from time to time to attend to the proper lighting, heating and cleaning of all offices and rooms in the Court House. (b) To preserve and keep in repair the Gaol, Gaoler's Residence, Court House and all offices, rooms and grounds connected therewith. (c) That if an emergency occurs requiring the ex- penditure of more than $100 or the amount appropriated by this Council for repairs that the matter be referred to the Gaol Committee or this Council if in Session for their con- sideration. ). That the said Commissioners be and are hereby required to keep a record of their proceedings to report to this Council at the June Session in each year and submit an estimate showing amount required for the following year and also to report at any Session of the Council in reference to matters that in their opinion should be brought to the attention of the Council. 4. That the sum of five hundred dollars be placed to the credit of the said Commissioners to provide for ex- penses up to the first of July, 1900. 5. That the County Treasurer be and is hereby required to pay all order issued by said Commissioners or any two of them provided they do not exceed the amounts placed to their credit by the Council (Cont'd) (,: By-Law No. 600 Page 2 6. That By-Law No. 523 and all other By-Laws, resolutions, rules and regulations passed by this Council which are inconsistent with the terms of this By-Law be and the same are hereby repealed. 7.
