TO APPOINT
1901
Passed 19th March,
The County Council of Elgin enacts
1. That Joseph Marshall of London and Enoch
Brown of Brownsville be and are hereby appointed valu-
ators for the purpose of valuing the real property within
the County.
2. (1) That the valuators shall as far as prac-
ticable ascertain the relative value of the real property
and improvements in each municipality in the County.
(2) They are required to note as near as possible
the general character of the land in the different parts of
each Township, classifying the same according to circumstances
and shall fix an average cash value on the lands in each such
locality to the best of their judgement, it being most desir-
able that the work should be thoroughly done
(J) After having inspected the several munici-
palities, they shall from the information obtained by them
fix the average value of each municipality to the best of
their judgement in all cases keeping in view the amount of
cleared land, facilities for market and any other special
advantage one municipality may possess over another.
(4) They shall also note the several towns and
villages in each municipality and report on the value there-
of from such sources of information as they may possess
themselves of.
5) Should any other matters be considered of

3. That the valuators be paid the sum of four
50/100 dollars each for every day they are actually en-
gaged in valuing the real property of the County and in
preparing their report said sum to include all expenses,
except stationery which shall be furnished by the County
Clerk

4. That the valuators hereby appointed complete
their report and file the same under oath with the County
Clerk on or before the first day of November, 1901, to-
gether with a detailed statement as to their work each day.
