636 COUNTY OF ELGIN 636 By-Law No " Passed June 14th, úŒST LORNE TO ESTABLISH A POLICE VILLAGE AT . , 1902 WHEREAS under the authority of the Act, 63 Vic- toria, Chapter 33, Section 50, it is enacted that the Coun- èil of any County or the Councils of any Counties in which an unincorporated village is situate, shall set apart such unincorporated village as a police village upon a petition being presented, describing the area to be included in such village, and signed by a majority of the ratepayers therein Where such unincorporated village lies wholly in one county the council shall, in and by such By-Law, fix a time and place for and shall name a Returning Officer for conducting the first election of Police Trustees as hereinafter men- tioned and the date of the first meeting of the Police Trustees after such election. AND WHEREAS a petition has been received from the of the Unincorporated Village of West Lorne in the of Aldborough, praying for the formation of a Police residents Township Village. AND WHEREAS such petition defines the area to be included in such village and is signed by a majority of the ratepayers therein. The Elgin County Council therefore enacts 1. That the Unincorporated Village of West Lorne in the Township of Aldborough, be and is hereby set apart as a Police Village 2. That the area to be included in the said Police Village of West Lorne shall comprise all and singular that certain parcel or tract of land, situate, lying and being in the Township of Aldborough, in the County of Elgin and Pro- vince of Ontario, being composed of the south halves of lots numbers eighteen and nineteen and the south east quarter of lot number seventeen in the eighth concession and the north halves of lots eighteen and nineteen, the north east quarter of lot seventeen, and the south east quarter of lot eighteen, and the south west quarter of lot number nineteen in the ninth concession all in the Township of Aldborough. 3. A meeting of the electors shall be held for the nomination of candidates for the office of Police Trustees in the said Village of West Lorne in the Township Hall at noon on Wednesday, the ninth (9th) day of July 1902. (Cont'd) By-Law No. 636 Page 2 4. The Returning Officer shall preside at such meeting and shall give at least six days notice of the same. 5. If, after a lapse of one hour, more than three candidates are nominated, the Returning Officer or Chairman shall adjourn the proceedings until Wednesday the sixteenth (16th) day of July 1902, when a poll or polls shall be opened in the Township Hall, West Lorne, at nine o'clock in the forenoon and shall continue until five o'clock in the afternoon and no longer. 6. That Dugald McPherson be and is hereby ap- pointed Returning Officer for conducting such election of Police Trustees. 7. That the first meeting of Police Trustees after such election, shall be held at the Township Hall West Lorne, on Wednesday the 23rd day of July, 1902 at eleven o'clock a. m.
