657 COUNTY OF ELGIN 657 By-Law No. " TO ESTABLISH A POLICE VILLAGE AT SHEDDEN Passed 27 November 190) WHEREAS, under the authority of the Consolidated Municipal Act, 190), it is enacted that the Council of any County or the Councils of any Counties in which an unincor- porated village is situate, shall set apart such unincor- porated village as a Police Village upon a petition being presented describing the area to be included in such vill- age, and signed by a majority of the ratepayers therein, Where such unincorporated village lies wholly in one County, the Council shall, in and by such By-Law, fix a time and place for, and shall name a Returning Officer for conduct- ing the first election of Police Trustees as hereinafter mentioned, and the date of the first meeting òf the Police Trustees after such election. AND WHEREAS a petition has been received from the residents of the Unincorporated Village of Shedden, in the Township of Southwold praying for the formation of a Police Village. AND WHEREAS, such petition defines the area to be included in such village and is signed by a majority of the ratepayers therein in a Elgin County Council therefore enacts 1. That the Unincorporated Village of Shedden, the Township of Southwold, be and is hereby set apart as Police Village The 2. That the ar.éa to be included in the said Police Village of Shedden shall comprise all and singular that certain parcel or tract of land situate, lying and being in the Township of Southwold, in the County of Elgin and Prov- ince of Ontario, being composed of parts of lots numbered fifteen and sixteen south and north of the north branch of Talbot Road in said Township, more particularly described as follows; Commencing at a point in the Union Road thirty-three rods south of the point of intersection of the north branch of Talbot Road and the Union Road in the said Township; thence easterly parallel to the north branch of Talbot Road, forty rods; THENCE northerly parallel to the Union Road one hundred and seventy-five rods; thence westerly parallel to the said north branch eighty rods; thence southerly parallel ) (cont'd 657 By-Law No Page 2 to the Union Road one hundred and seventy-five rods; thence easterly parallel to the said north branch forty rods ~o the place of beginning. ). A meeting of the electors shall be held for the nomination of candidates for the office of Police"Trustees in the said Village of Shedden, in Morrisòns Hall at noon on Monday the twenty-eighth day of December 190). The Returning Officer shall preside at such shall give at least six days notice of the same 4. and meeting 5. If after a lapse of one hour more than three candidates are nominated, the Returning Officer or Chairman shall adjourn the proceedings until Monday the fourth day of January 1904, when a poll or polls shall be opened in Morrisons Hall, Shedden, at nine o'clock in the forenoon and shall continue until five o'clock in the afternoon and no longer 6.
