917 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 917 TO AUTHORIZE THE WARDEN TO APPOINT A SUBURBAN ROADS COMMISSIONER. " Passed 14th June 1918 ~{EREAS application has been made to the Lieutenant Governor-in-Council, as provided in Section 12, of the Ontario Highways Act, for a direction to appoint a Suburban Road Commission to designate and define the Suburban Roads or portions thereof in the County System towards the construction and maintenance of which the City of St. Thomas shall con- tribute. AND WHEREAS it is the duty of this Council to appoint a member of the Commission within thirty days from the receipt by the Clerk of a copy of the Order-in-Council authorizing such Commission. AND WHEREAS a copy of the Order-in-Council has not been received and it is deemed desirable to authorize the Warden to appoint a Commissioner when required to be appointed by this CounciL The County Council of the County of Elgin hereby enacts: That the Warden of this Council be and is hereby authorized to appoint a member of Suburban Road Commission to designate and define the Suburban Roads or portions there- of in the County System towards the constructio]:l and mainten- ance of which the City of St. Thomas shall contribute. Upon the recommendation of the Honourable the Minister of Public Works and Highways, the Committee of Council advise that pursuant to the provisions of Section 17 of the Ontario Highways Act 1915. Cap. 17, 5 George V., it is directed that a Suburban Road Commission be selected with respect to Suburban County Roads adjacent to the City of St. Thomas and within the County of Elgin, and having the powers and duties conferred by the said Act.
