By-Law No. 924
"A BY-LAW FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING SPECIAL GRANTS TO THE
VILLAGES AND TOWN IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN. FOR THE IMPROVE-
MENT OF CERTAIN HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE SAID VILLAGES AND TOWN
WHEREAS under the Act to Aid in the Improvement of
Public Highways. R. S. 0.. 1914, chapter 40, a County
Council may from time to time, while carrying out a plan of
highway improvement under the said Act, by By-Law make
grants to villages and towns not separated from the County,
for the purpose of improving such highways or portions of
highways in such villages or towns as may be designated in
such By-Law and which are extensions of or form connections
between different portions of County roads;
AND WHEREAS a grant made in accordance with the
said Act to a village or town having a population of more
than 1.500 must be expended solely upon roads and streets or
portions thereof which lie opposite to lands on one side or
the other thereof used for agricultural purposes;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the County of Elgin
deems it expedient to make grants to the incorporated villages
and town of the County in accordance with the terms of the
said Act;
AND WHEREAS the population of the said ,Village
and Town according to the last (1911) revised Census is as
follows:

BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Corpora-
tion of the County of Elgin as follows:
(1) A grant of $2.719.88 is hereby made to the Town of
Aylmer, for the improvement of John Street, from South Cor-
poration Line to a point eighty rods north and Talbot Street
from the West Corporation Line to a point forty rods east.

A grant of $278.48 is hereby made to the Village
for the improvement of Front Street Bridge.

(3) A grant of $404.04 is hereby made to the Village
of Springfield, for the improvement of Main Street, from
West Corporation Line twenty rods east and Wellington
Street from North Corporation Line, four rods south
(4) A grant of $611. 37 is hereby made to the Village
of Port Stanley, for the improvement of Colborne Street,
from North Corporation Line south eight rods and Bridge
Street west from Colborne Street, twenty rods and George
Street west from Bridge Street, ten rods.
(5) A grant of $923.15 is hereby made to the Village
of Dutton. for the improvement of Shakleton Street from
East Corporation Line west twenty-five rods
(6) A grant of $605.05 is hereby made to the Village
of West Lome, for the improvement of Graham Street from
South Corporation Line north seventy rods.
(7) A grant of $611.03 is hereby made to the Village
of Rodney, for the improvement of Furnival Street from
Corporation Line, north thirty-five rods and Queens Street
from WestCurporation Line, east to Furnival Street.
