943 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 943 A BY-LAW FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING SPECIAL GRANTS TO THE VILLAGES AND TOWN IN TH~ COUNTY OF ELGIN, FOR THE IlVIPROYEMENT OF CERTAIN HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE SAID VILLAGE~~ AND TOWN". WHEREAS under the Act to aid in the improvement of Public Highways, R. S. O. 1914, Chapter 40, a County Council may, from time to time, while carrying out a plan of highway improvement under the said Act, by By-Law make grants to villages or towns not separated from the County, for the purpose of improving such highways or por- tions of highways in such villages pr towns as may be designated in such By-Law and which are extensions of, ()r form connections between different portions of County roads AND WHEREAS a grant made in accordance with the said Act to a village or town having a population of more than 1500 must be expended solely upon roads and street:3 or portions thereof which lie opposite to lands on one side or the other thereof used for agricultural purpose:3. AND WHEREAS the Council of the County of Elgin deems it expedient to make grants to the Incorporated Villages and Town of the County in accordance with the terms of the said Act. AND WHEREAS the population of the said Villages and Town according to the last (1911) revised census is as follows:- Aylmer, Town 2102 Port Stanley, Village 891 Springfield, Village 454 Vienna, Village 332 Dutton, Village 836 Rodney, Village 676 West Lome Village 740 (Cont'd) -, <. Page BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Corporation of the County of Elgin as follows:- 943 By-Law No 1. A grant of $3139.00, is hereby made to the Town of Aylmer for the improvement of John Street on road no. 26 P.C. beginning at the southern limit thence north to cement road. Also beginning at westerly limit of Town on road no. 26 P.C. to cement road, a distance of 675 feet 2. A grant of $321.00 is hereby made to the Village of Vienna for the improvement of county road no. 44 P.C. on top of Teal Hill, thence north until County Grant is expended t 3. A grant of $467.00 is hereby made to the Village of Springfield for the improvement of East Stree on county road no. 40, beginning at the southerly limit, thence north until County Grant of 1919 is expended 4. A grant of $705.00 is hereby made to the Village of Port Stanley, for the improvement of county road no. 23 P.C. beginning at the north limit of Villagl~, thence south until County Grant of 1919 is expended A grant of $1065.00 is hereby made to the of Dutton for the improvement of county road no. commencing at corner of McArthur and Shackelton west'to Currie Street 5. Village 13 P.C. Streets 6. A grant of $699.00 is hereby made to the Village of West Lorne for. the improvement of county road no. 1, beginning at northerly boundary of Village thencl~ south to M.C.R. railway 7. A grant of $705.00 is hereby made to the Village of Rodney for the improvement of Furnival Street opposite lots 6 and 7 The said grants shall be expended solely upon highway or portion thereof herein designated the 8. The work on which the said grants shall be ex- pended shall be performed in accordance with the last revised Regulations Respecting Highways, of the Department of Public Highways of Ontario.
