A By-law for Granting Aid to Certain Patriotic ,!<
Organizations within the County of Elgin
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to assist certain Patriotic
Organizations functioning in the (Jounty of Elgin,
AND WHEREAS by virtue of Chapter 266, Section 404, Subsection
32, R.S.O. 1937 and amendments to this Section 404A in the
1939 amendmentw thereto, the Council of a County is empowered
subject to the approval of the Deputy Minister of Munici:¡;al
Affairs, and of the Organization of Resources Committee as
therein designated.
THEREFORE BE IT ElIJACTED by the Municipal council of the
Corporation of the County of' Elgin as follows:
1. That the sum of $10,000. be included in the estimates
for the current year to be levied as part of the County Rate
and that said money be set aside for assistance to such patriotic
organizations as comply fully with the requirements of the special
committee of this County Council, appointed to administer and
distribute the said fund among such patriotic organizations
as have been duly registered under the War Charities Act of tre,
Dominion of Canada.
2. That said special committee to be known as the "Special
War Purposes Committee of the County Council" shall be empowered
to requisition fUnds not exceeding the said sum of $10,000. as
required from time to time as approved by the saidCommi ttee for
such purposes, upon being satisfied that each patriotic organi-
zation has complied fully with the requirements of the Law as
then pertaining.

That the said Committee having authority to make inq1li.iries
and. require oomplianoe with suoh applioation forms, as they may
see fit to determine, the bona fides and regularity of eaoh
applioation reoeived from any patriotio organization.
3. This by~law shall not take effeot until it has
reoeived the approval of the Deputy Minister of Municipal
Affairs of th e Provinoe of Ontario as provid.ed. in Seotion 404A
of the amendments to the Munioipal Aot.
