By-law No. 1408
To Appoint Officers of the
House of Refuge
The County Oouncil of t~e Oounty of Elgin enacts:
1. That J.G. Turnbull be and is hereby appointed
Keeper, and his wife, Myrtle Ann Turnbull be and is hereby
appointed Matron of the House of Hefuge to hold, office
during the pleasure of ~he Oouncil.
11. That the combined salaries of the Keeper and Matron
be and are hereby fixed at Fifteen Hundred Dollars per anum,
payable monthly.
111. That the said Keeper and Matron may hire or discharge
all help required at 'the Ins:!;ti.dmtion with the approval of the
Inspector and the Ohai~aan of the Oommittee; the said hired
help to be paid by the County.
IV. That J.D. Thomson be and is hereby appointed
Inspector of the House of Refuge.
V. That a committee of three mellbers of the Oouncil
to be called the Standing Oon~ittee of Management of the
House of Refuge be appointed annually at the first session
in each year.
Vl. That by-laws Nos. 1220, 1270,1295 and 1347 be and
are hereby repealed.
