A By-law for Granting Aid to Oertain Patriotic
,
Organizations within the Oounty of Elgin
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to assist certain Patriotic
Organizations functioning in the County of Elgin,
AND WHEREAS by virtue of Chapter 266, Section 404, Subsection
32, R.S. O. 1937 and amendments to this Section 404A in the
1939 amendments thereto, the Council of a Oounty is empowered,
subject to the approval of the Deputy Minister of Municipal
Affairs, and of the Organization of Resources Committee as
therein designated
THEREFORE BE IT ENACTJtJDAby the Municipal Council of the
Corporation of the County of Elgin as follows:
1. That the sum 01"$5,000.00 be included in the estimat~@
for the current year to be levied as part of the County Rate
and that said mOL.ey be set aside for assistance to such patriotic
organizations as comply fully with the requirements of the special
committee of this County Council, appointed '~o administer and
distribute the said fund among such patriotic organizations
as have been duly registered under 'the War Charities Act of the
Dominion of Canada.
2. That said special committee to be known as the "Special
War Purposes Committee of the, County Council" shall be empowered
to requiàition funds not exceeding the said sum of $5,000. as
required from 'time to time as approved by thé said Oommittee for
such purposes, upon being satisfied that each patriotic organi-
zation has complied fully with the requirements of the Law as
then pert1n1n¡¡;.

That the said Committee have authority to make inquiries
and require compliance with such application forms as they may
see fit to determine, the bona fides and regularity of each
application received from any patriotic organization.
This by-law shall not take effect until it has received
the approval of the Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs of the
Province of Ontario as provided in Section 404A of the
amendments to the Municipal Act.
Read a third time and finally passed at County Council Chambers,
st. Thomas this 19th day of January 1945.
