TRECOUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN, ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS 1
1. Sectian forty-four (44) af 13y_ll1w No. 1462 is hereby
amended by dele.ting the whole of the saidseo.tion and inserting
in ,;1ts plt\ce.Andst.ead the following sectionl

"44. Any persons c.onvic:lled of A breach, ot any of
the provisions of this By-1Aw shall torfeitand pay, at the
discretionot the convicting Jlagistrate or .Jus.tices of the Peace.
a penal.ty not exceeding the ,sum of Fif'ty Dollars for each oftence,
exclusive ot ooSt.8, And .in defAult of payment .,of'. the. said penalt;y
And costs forthwith, the said penalty and costs, or the .costs only,
ma;Y be .levied.by distress and. sale of the goods and chattels øf
tb.e o.ftender, and in ease at therebeing..no distress found out ot
..b.ich such 'penalty can be. levied, the convicting Jlagistrate ar
Justices øt the Peace Blay commit theof'fender to the common gaol
af' the Caunty of' Elgin, f'ar any perbd not exceeding twent;y.-one
days unless the said penalty And, cuts (if any) including the cost
