REST1ìICTING TI-IE '¡¡VEIGHT OF VEHICLES
PASSING OVER BRIDGES
WHEREAS subsec"Gion ($ of Section 52 of the Highway
Traffic Act (R. S. O. 1960) provides that:-
The municipal corporation or other authority having
jurisdiction over a bridge may b,y By-La1of approved
by the Department make regulations limiting the
10feight of 8.IIIy vehicle or combination of vehicles
or any class thereof passing Over such bridge;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to limit the
10feight of vehicles passing over certain bridges in the County of
Elgin;
NOW THEREFORE the COlli1cil of the Corporation of the
Coun'ty of Elgin enacts as foll01ofs:-
1. No vehicle or combination of vehicles or any class
thereof, whether empty or loaded, shall be'operated
over any bridge designated in Schedule No.1,
Schedule No. 2 or Schedule NO.3, attached to and
forming part of this By-La1of 10fith a 10feight in excess
of' the 10feight limit prescribed in the schedule for
such bridge.
2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
by-la1of shall be subject. to the penalty provided in

3. This By-La1of shall notþ~come effective until approved

by the Department of Tr~sportand until a notice of
the weight permitted,' legibly printed has been

posted up in a conspicuous place at either end of
each bridge designated in the attached schedules.
4. All previous By-La1ofs restricting the 10feight of
vehicles passing over bridges are hereby repealed.
READ a first time this 22nd day of March, 1961.
READ a second time this 22nd day of March, 1961.
READ a third time, and finally passed this 22nd day of
March, 1961.
