"A BY_LAW TO AUTHŒ.IZE THE EXPROPRIATION OF lAND FOR._
THE PURPOSE OF WIDENING AND IMPROVING COUNTY ROADS. II
WHEREAS authority is: granted to the Corporation of the
County of Elgin, under Section 333 of the Municipal Act, being Chapter
249, R.S.O. 196ø; and
WHEREAS the Highway Improvement Act, R.S.O. 1960, Chapter
171, Section 66, provides that where, in the exercise of its powers.
or in performance of its obligations under Part VII of the said Act,
a County finds that .i"t is necessary to expropriate land~: for the
purpose of opening up, widening, improving, protecting from erosion,
altering or diverting a County Road, the County may proceed in the
manner provided by Part 1 of the said Act; and'
WlIEREAS in the exercise 01; its powers and in performance
of its obligations, the Corporation of the County of Elgin finds, or
may find, that it is necessary to expropriate lands for widening,
improving, etc., the County Roads shown on Schedule A as attached;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Corporation of the County
of Elgin
(1) That the Warden and Clerk of the County of Elgin be,
and are,- authorized to sign any and all plans pertaining

to land expropriat! on "County Roads shown on Schedule
A, and to affix thereto the seal of the Corporation
of the County of Elgih and to register the same in the
County of Elgin Registry Office.
(2) That "the Treasurer be, and is hereby authorized to
pay to the owners of the lands: hereby expropriated,

such amounts a:s may be agreed upon as oompensat.i on

may be determined by arbitrati9n under provisions. of
the Expropriation Procedures: Act, Statutes of Ontario
